Super Mario World 2 storyline
The events of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island take place in the past. Baby Mario with his twin brother is kidnapped by the evil Magikoopa Kamek. On the way to his lair Magikoopa Kamek looses Mario, who falls down on Yoshi’s Island. The Yoshis living on this island decide to take baby Mario and bring him back to his parents. Kamek, however, does not give up so easily and sends his soldiers and monsters to stop Yoshis and take Mario back to their evil master.
Super Mario World 2 gameplay
Most of the time player controls differently colored Yoshis. Mario is a helpless baby unless you collecy a star that makes him invincible. A Yoshi can swallow enemies to make eggs. These eggs can be used as a weapon against other enemies or to activate switches. Yoshi can do a flutter jump to clear large gaps. Yoshi can also hit enemies and flip certain switches by pounding the ground. Additionally, a Yoshi can transform into vehicles such as a helicopter, submarine or a train. If Mario falls down from a Yoshi a countdown starts and Yoshi has to catch him before Kamek’s servants kidnap him. When Mario is invincible, he does not ride on Yoshi, is immune to enemy attacks and can run up certain walls.
